“Shiatsu supports life in all its expressions and manifestations.”
September 17th to 20th 2026 - Italy, Rome
When choosing the theme for the 8th European Shiatsu Congress, we asked ourselves:
‘What does shiatsu represent to us?
What is its most precious gift?
How does its uniqueness manifest itself?’
Drawing on our experience and, above all, our passion for this discipline, we have chosen to celebrate at this Congress the support that shiatsu offers to life at every level of its expression and manifestation. Shiatsu has the unique ability to reach and support the human being in all aspects of their life.

It is through touch, the primary tool of shiatsu, that we come into contact with the people we work with and their lives.
Through this special touch, we have the opportunity to:
• support them in remembering who they truly are;
• help them reconnect with their true nature;
• reconnect them with their essence.

Shiatsu reminds us of:
• our resources and potential,
• our strength and talents,
• the inherent beauty within each of us,
• our perfection as Beings of Light in a physical body.

By reconnecting with our essence, Shiatsu supports us to rediscover:
• the awareness of our unity,
• our full presence in our Life,
• the connection with Universal Energy.
“To the extent that Shiatsu supports Life,
it is with Life and with its infinite resources
With which we will come into contact, rather than its weaknesses.”
This approach enables us to support those who receive our treatment in recovering or maintaining a state of well-being and health, accepting the limitations imposed by illness with serenity, and leaving this dimension of ours in peace with themselves.
Shiatsu is a ‘endless story’, and it is up to us to write its next chapter by discovering new approaches and possibilities through our practice, experience and passion to meet, interact with and support life!
Wilfried Rappenecker shares his thoughts on the upcoming 8th European Shiatsu Congress:
The 8th European Shiatsu Congress continues the successful series of previous ESCs. The first of these congresses took place in 2004, when I, together with the Kientalerhof in Switzerland, wanted to bring together and network European Shiatsu teachers, practitioners, and students. Back then, I was already certain that we in Europe possessed a great wealth of practical and teaching experience; I wanted to make this visible.
It worked! Europe-wide communication across national borders was initiated and has continued to expand, with the exchange between teachers, practitioners and students at the seven congresses to date playing a significant role.
The 8th ESC will continue this tradition. I’m looking forward to it and would like to encourage you all to join us when we meet eye to eye and heart to heart in Rome. It will be worth it!
